Happy Memorial Day. It’s hard to believe it’s the end of May, but here we are. And here’s a recap of all of this month’s content that’s exclusive to premium TDW subscribers!
Teen Drama Replacement Songs & #RestoreTheMusic
Fans of “Beverly Hills, 90210” and “Dawson’s Creek” have been frustrated to no end by the use of replacement songs on DVDs and streaming platforms.
This essay examined why the music is replaced and why it’s such an affront.
I also shared an exclusive statement from “Beverly Hills, 90210” executive producer Charles Rosin, who has been pushing a campaign to #RestoreTheMusic.

Simply put, the “Dawson’s Creek” crying meme is the gift that keeps on giving — and, as linked in this roundup, its latest gift was an oral history from Vox on how both the infamous moment on the show and the gif came to be.
This roundup also delivered news on a few “Dawson’s Creek” stars, as well as cast members from the other five teen dramas.

There was a whirlwind of teen drama links to share, but perhaps none as important or as fascinating as Entertainment Weekly’s deep dive into the “teen TV” genre and its ranking of the genre’s top 50 shows.
I also curated links on everything from Katie Holmes’ secret film project to Chad Michael Murray’s rom-com-inspired commercial for Hotels.com.

One of the themes of this installment was the press tour and how the pandemic has arguably made it stronger.
Among the proof? Even more interviews promoting “Welcome to the OC, Bitches” and a slew of chats with Matt Lanter as he made the media rounds for “Jupiter’s Legacy.”
In addition to all that, premium TDW subscribers also got to enjoy one of my favorite events of the quarter — Teen Drama Trivia Night! And you know what’s coming up in June? That’s right — our quarterly Zoom chat with a key player in the teen drama genre!
Stay tuned for the official announcement revealing the guest of honor (this private event will likely be on June 25 — UPDATE: EVENT IS NOW JULY 2 — if you want to mark your calendar) and be sure to sign up for a premium TDW subscription if you haven’t already so you don’t miss out on this one-of-a-kind opportunity or on all of TDW’s exclusive content all month long!
