Teen Drama Links for January 10, 2023
Tonight will be a night of firsts.
It is the first time I’ll be missing the Golden Globes in as far back as I can remember and the first time I see the “Dancing with the Stars” tour.
I’m extremely excited for the “DWTS” live show. However, I’m pretty bummed that I won’t be able to watch the Globes.
Even though there are plenty of ways for fellow TeenDramaWhores to immediately find out which of our teen drama stars won and lost at the awards show, it almost feels like a dereliction of duty that I won’t be live-tweeting the results like I normally do.
I’m also frustrated that I won’t have time today to listen to / watch the special “Welcome to the OC, Bitches” with Mischa Barton (which, spoiler alert, I have a cameo in!). I typically carve out time on Tuesdays for the weekly “OC, Bitches” installment, but today is busier than usual, in part because of my plans tonight. So I just can’t make it work.
Obviously, these are #firstworldproblems, but they’ve had me stressed. When it comes to anything related to the teen dramas, I have perpetual #FOMO. So, as strange as it may sound, I’ve had anxiety over the last week just because I won’t immediately know the relevant Golden Globes winners (refresh yourself on the TD-related nods here) and because I won’t know before all the inevitable media coverage how the podcast discussion went (speaking of, here’s a preview clip via People). Simply put, as a pop culture enthusiast in general, I don’t like being out of the entertainment loop.
On the (very) bright side, I’m expecting the “DWTS” show tonight to be incredible, and I know I’ll be making an extra-special memory with my mom. Ultimately, the time with my mom, whom I don’t see nearly enough, is most important. In that sense, no matter what happens at the Globes or on the podcast, the real winner today is… me.
FYI: Like I did during my trip to Punta Cana and whenever I go out, I'll be masked up during the “DWTS” show, and I hope you all are masking, too. Be careful out there, folks.

Several shows with teen drama connections made Nielsen’s streaming top 10 chart according to new data for early December. (Deadline)
Jason Priestley did an interview about his Offside: The Harold Ballard Story documentary. (CBC)
Priestley got emotional when Luke Perry (Dylan, Beverly Hills, 90210) came up… but wrongly referred to “One Wedding and a Funeral” as Perry’s last episode “ever.”
Also, this is embarrassing. Wrong answer after wrong answer by everyone: “Jason Priestley stumped by a Beverly Hills 90210 trivia question” (CBC)

Hilary Swank (Carly, Beverly Hills, 90210) will be a presenter at tonight’s Golden Globes, where she is also among the nominees. (Deadline)
Swank was on the “Late Late Show with James Corden” last night. (YouTube)
There’s a short interview with Eva Longoria, who appeared on an episode of “Beverly Hills, 90210,” in the January 16 issue of People — this online version is slightly longer. (People)
John Eisendrath (executive producer, Beverly Hills, 90210) did an interview about “Alert,” which premiered last night. (St. Louis Post-Dispatch)
“Dawson’s Creek” will be available to stream on ITVX starting next month. (Cord Busters)
Michelle Williams (Jen, Dawson’s Creek) is doing press again for The Fabelmans as awards season heats up — and talking a lot about “Dawson’s Creek.”

I love her idea of doing something as a fundraiser — as I shared at the time, several cast members of “The O.C.” reunited last year for a charity table read.
Williams is also featured in “British Vogue’s 2023 Hollywood Portfolio.” (British Vogue)
Williams made the “longlist” for a possible BAFTA Film Awards nomination for her role in The Fabelmans. (Deadline)
Williams was a runner-up for Best Actress after the National Society of Film Critics voted over the weekend. (Deadline)
John Wesley Shipp (Mitch, Dawson’s Creek) will be returning to Wilmington, where “Dawson’s Creek” was shot, as the guest of honor at April’s Wilmington Geek Expo. (Wilmington Geek Expo)

Penn Badgley (Dan, Gossip Girl) was on the “Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend” podcast. (Apple Podcasts)
I really enjoyed their “Gossip Girl” discussion until O’Brien said “Beverly Hills, 90210” aired in the ‘80s. (And he also referred to it as “90210,” ugh.)
