TeenDramaWhore is depressed.
It’s hard not to be after the events of the last week and a half.
I’ve had a hard time focusing on anything besides what’s going on in Israel and the surrounding areas. I’ve been to Israel twice and have several connections still in the country, as many Jewish people do.
My heart is broken.
I know wallowing in despair doesn’t help things, and while I don’t think we should be carrying on like everything is normal either, I will be proceeding with Teen Drama Trivia Night on Thursday.
A trivial event (no pun intended)? Sure. Might it lift our spirits a little, even temporarily? Hopefully.
I started this reincarnation of TeenDramaWhore after months of pandemic-induced depression. This newsletter helped lift me out of the fog. It gave me something to do. It made me feel less isolated and alone.
Now maybe it’ll rescue me again.
SAG-AFTRA Strike Update
News and notes…
With no end in sight to the actors strike, Friends with Benefit has officially canceled the charity basketball game portion of the “20in23 Fundraiser Weekend.” (Facebook)
However, other events will still be taking place as scheduled for that weekend, including a newly announced concert with Bethany Joy Lenz (Haley, One Tree Hill) and Tyler Hilton (Chris, One Tree Hill).
Bryan Greenberg (Jake, One Tree Hill) and Robbie Jones (Quentin, One Tree Hill) have now signed on for the festivities as well, while Michaela McManus (Lindsey, One Tree Hill) is now part of the guest list for the prior weekend’s “A Holiday in Wilmington: Giving Back Celebration.”
Kristen Bell (Gossip Girl, Gossip Girl) is hosting a charity contest — you can win a lunch with her and other cast members from “The Good Place” — to benefit the Entertainment Community Fund. (Prizeo)

Best of the Rest
Several people with teen drama connections — perhaps most notably Shannen Doherty (Brenda, Beverly Hills, 90210), Ian Ziering (Steve, Beverly Hills, 90210), Vanessa Marcil (Gina, Beverly Hills, 90210), and Greg Berlanti (executive producer, Dawson’s Creek) — have signed an open letter condemning Hamas and demanding the release of the hostages being held captive by the terrorist group. This act means a lot to me. Among the hostages are a mother and daughter from my college town and a soldier from a town near where I grew up on Long Island.

I’m not going to list how many of our teen drama stars are getting bashed in their comments sections right now, but it’s a lot.
