Dawson's Creek is one of the first "serious" teen drama I watched! I was entering grade 7 when I started watching (but on a Grade 6 age, because I was always a year earlier than my classmates). It started airing on my local Canadian channel in Fall 2000, airing the first two seasons back-to-back. If I remember correctly, then they aired each subsequent season on a yearly basis. Before that, I had only watched "light" children/tween TV shows like Sabrina the Teenage Witch and the likes. I liked it and was always a Joey and Pacey shipper, and was always more interested in Pacey's storylines and life than Dawson's. I was just not interested in Dawson when I was younger, and re-watching it as an adult, his character left an even sourer taste in my mouth. He was extremely self-centered, it sometimes borders on parody!

I like how you categorized them -- "serious" teen drama versus "light" children/tween shows.
