With “9021OMG” currently in the midst of rewatching the Dylan-Toni storyline on “Beverly Hills, 90210,” I have what may or may not be a hot take…
If you haven’t watched (and what is wrong with you if that’s the case?!), there are spoilers ahead.
A lot of non-Kelly/Dylan and non-Brenda/Dylan fans believe Toni was Dylan’s soulmate and the best woman suited to him. But I think had Toni not been killed and had the two gone on to live their lives as husband and wife as they intended, the marriage and relationship never would’ve lasted.
We only saw them in the “honeymoon period” after beginning a relationship with a highly unusual background under highly unusual circumstances. I don’t think they had any long-term compatibility and I think that would’ve come to light eventually had Toni’s life not been tragically cut short.
So even if Toni had lived, I don’t think she would’ve been Dylan’s endgame.
They were the Romeo and Juliet of “Beverly Hills, 90210,” star-crossed lovers seemingly meant to be, but had Romeo and Juliet lived, I don’t think their relationship would’ve lasted either.

Van Der Beek’s appearance on “Walker” followed his surprise set visit in April.
The fact that Van Der Beek’s character was going to be a cult leader is another striking resemblance to the career of Chad Michael Murray (Lucas, One Tree Hill), who played a cult leader on “Riverdale.”
And in another teen drama coincidence, Fricke says in the interview that Van Der Beek was also in contention for a season 1 “Walker” role that went to Austin Nichols (Julian, One Tree Hill).

ITA. Dylan and Toni were star-crossed lovers, just like Romeo and Juliet. We will never know what would have happened if Toni had lived. My guess? She would have gotten fed up with Dylan's drinking, moodiness, and restlessness, which prevented him from being truly happy.
