Teen Drama Links for June 14, 2022
I always love upfront season in May and the release of the trailers for the broadcast networks’ new shows.
I usually watch them the day they’re each released, but for various reasons, it was a few weeks before I had time to watch this year’s crop. Unfortunately, my highly anticipated viewing ended up being anticlimactic.
With the “Alaska” teaser only being 15 seconds, it was hard to form a real opinion on the upcoming ABC series, which, as I’ve reported, is starring and executive-produced by Hilary Swank (Carly, Beverly Hills, 90210). While The CW released full-length trailers and I really like Matt Barr (Wes, The O.C. / Psycho Derek, One Tree Hill / Keith, Gossip Girl), I don’t see myself watching “Walker: Independence.” I already don’t watch the flagship show.
I laughed at one line in CBS’s “True Lies” trailer, but really didn’t care for the lead actress. “East New York” stars Richard Kind, whom I love from “Mad About You,” and Amanda Warren, who appeared in both the original and new “Gossip Girl,” but I’m really not into procedurals.
Meanwhile, NBC and FOX didn’t upload trailers this year, as far as I could tell, though the trailer for FOX’s “Monarch” came out last year, before the show’s premiere was pushed. I wasn’t interested.
All in all, I can’t say there’s any new show I plan to watch this fall. It’s looking like returnees “Survivor” and “Bachelor in Paradise” will fill my time (especially with “BIP” on two nights a week). Maybe I’ll finally have time to catch up on the 837530128571846 other shows I still haven’t watched.
