It’s official: I’ve gone ham for Hamilton.
For years, I dreamed of getting tickets to the Broadway show and avoided listening to the musical’s soundtrack until that sure-to-be-amazing day when I’d experience it all in person the way it was intended. By 2020, that seemed very unlikely to happen, though, so I was very much looking forward to the planned theatrical release of the stage show.
Enter the pandemic (she says in parentheses), which led Hamilton to be released on Disney+ instead of in theaters.
Fast-forward to last month, when I finally subscribed to Disney+ to watch the new season of “Dancing with the Stars.”
It occurred to me I could now, at last, watch the Hamilton stage recording. And so that’s what I did about two weeks ago. At least I think it was two weeks ago. I’ve kind of been in a Hamilton stupor since then, losing all track of time, having the music in my head at all times, and suddenly singing random lines aloud at different hours of the day. I also spent the past weekend reading Hamilton: The Revolution, which contains the full libretto, to better understands the ins and outs of the production.
In other words, I’ve become obsessed, and I’ve thought of little else in whatever amount of time has passed since my watch. So obsessed, in fact, that I even pitched my boss at my day job on an article tied to the show. What does Hamilton have to with business, you ask? Oh, just you wait. (And read my article when it comes out. I don’t even write articles at my job normally; I’m an editor. But I have this story in me that is bursting to get out. Just you wait.)
Of course, Hamilton has a significant teen drama connection too — its director Thomas Kail is married to Michelle Williams (Jen, Dawson’s Creek) and they’re currently expecting their second child together (Williams’ third overall). And I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention how much the teen drama fan in me loves the show’s main love story and the two related love triangles.
Anyway, thus continues my habit of coming to deservedly popular works of art years late. I didn’t see (or read) any of Harry Potter until right before the last movie came out. I didn’t watch the pilot of “Lost” until the night of the series finale. There are other examples, but I’m embarrassed enough as it is.
Okay, back to listening to Hamilton! This woman is non-stop.

Brian Austin Green (David, Beverly Hills, 90210) posted two stories on Instagram about old custody issues with Vanessa Marcil (Gina, Beverly Hills, 90210) — which she hasn’t responded to, as far as I can see, and it’s unclear what prompted Green’s posts.
On a lighter note, Green will be hosting Paw Works’ Ties & Tails Gala later this month. (Instagram)
And an Instagram story from Marcil indicated their son Kassius will be joining Green at the event.

The aforementioned Williams is wonderfully, beautifully profiled in “The Greats” issue of T: The New York Times Style Magazine. (The New York Times)
The piece notes, “Spielberg says he first noticed Williams, who had a starring role on the television series ‘Dawson’s Creek,’ when he watched the show with his kids in the late ’90s.”
Also: I don’t think I’ve ever seen the “Dawson’s Creek” photo in this article!

“One Tree Hill” will soon be available on Amazon Prime Video in France. (Variety)
The “Drama Queens” tour started over the weekend. There are lots of photos and videos floating around social media.
Also, Thursday’s “live stream” of the tour (which I’ll be live-tweeting) isn’t actually “live” at all. It’s a recording of one of this weekend’s shows.
Amidst several “One Tree Hill” cast members reuniting for the tour, Jana Kramer (Alex, One Tree Hill) and Shantel VanSanten (Quinn, One Tree Hill) had their own reunion. (Instagram)

On last night’s “Dancing with the Stars,” Trevor Donovan (Teddy, 90210) received amazing feedback for his jazz and a score of 32 — his highest in the competition so far, but one of the lowest of the night.
The theme was “My Most Memorable Year,” and Donovan went with 2009 — the year he joined “90210.” He even sported Teddy-style hair.
I was surprised no “90210” co-stars were in the audience.
There will be another episode tonight.
