It finally happened.
I saw Taylor Swift in concert.
Well, not exactly. I mean, I finally saw the “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” movie.
After an awful three weeks and giving up my opening-night tickets, it was a privilege to be able to see this film knowing full well how lucky I am to currently be safe in this world when so many are not. It was a luxury to disappear into a movie theater for a few hours, unafraid of terrorists, bombings, hate crimes and the like.
I was really bummed certain songs were cut — namely, “The Archer” and “‘Tis the Damn Season” — but I’m holding out hope they’ll eventually be included in a special streaming edition.
I’m grateful I got to experience this film with my friend Lisa and my mom, who flew down last week to help me work through this depression I’m battling. As much as my depression was telling me to stay home and not go to the movie, I’m glad I went.
Swift, as she’s been many times before, and the literal and figurative community she’s created were a welcome reminder of the importance of friendship and togetherness.
So make the friendship bracelets — and hold your loved ones close.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
SAG-AFTRA Strike Update
News and notes…
A number of stars with teen drama connections — including Lindsay Price (Janet, Beverly Hills, 90210), Joshua Jackson (Pacey, Dawson’s Creek), and Busy Philipps (Audrey, Dawson’s Creek) — signed a letter telling SAG-AFTRA they “would rather stay on strike than take a bad deal.”
Jennie Garth (Kelly, Beverly Hills, 90210) broke the strike rules with this Instagram post referencing her “Beverly Hills, 90210” character.
Eva Longoria, who appeared on “Beverly Hills, 90210,” shot the film Dead Guy amidst the strike, as the movie was granted a SAG-AFTRA interim agreement.
Like Philipps last week, James Van Der Beek (Dawson, Dawson’s Creek) broke the strike by reposting a viral clip of “Dawson’s Creek.”
We already know this, but: “SAG-AFTRA strike causes changes to annual actors’ reunion in Wilmington” (WECT)
See the latest updates on these not “One Tree Hill” but really still “One Tree Hill” events in “Best of the Rest” below.
Ed Westwick (Chuck, Gossip Girl) did a wide-ranging interview tied to Deep Fear, but the film isn’t on the interim agreements list, so I am not sure of the circumstances that allow him to do promotion for it.
In the interview, Westwick sadly reveals his mother died last year.
