I already shared my disgust that The CW has teamed up with the Saudi-funded LIV Golf league. Ethically, I find it shameful that the network, once the home of some of our beloved teen dramas, has partnered with an organization financially linked to murder and terror.
But what’s really pissing me off now is all the random people on Twitter making fun of The CW and its shows when they evidently don’t have a clue about what airs on the network today. These people think they’re being funny when they post about LIV airing alongside episodes of “Dawson’s Creek” and “One Tree Hill” — two series that are no longer on the air and haven’t been in nearly 20 years and almost 11 years, respectively (outside of syndication on other channels).
At first I was just rolling my eyes at these ignorant tweets, but now they’re really grating on me, especially as clueless people pile on the network even more now that it might secure the TV rights for the PAC-12. I mean, if you’re going to mock The CW, shouldn’t you at least have your facts right?
Even the “Gossip Girl” jokes don’t work, and don’t get me started on bringing “Beverly Hills, 90210” into this, a show that had zero involvement with The CW (or, for that matter, its predecessor, The WB). Mock LIV all you want, but making fun of the network this way just makes you look dumb.
