Teen Drama Links for August 23, 2022
I had big plans for TeenDramaWhore last week.
On the evening of Sunday, August 14, I intended to finish working on an assessment of the teen drama rewatch podcasts (which I ultimately published yesterday, instead of last Monday) and then watch Katie Holmes’ Alone Together to write about it for that Tuesday’s Teen Drama Links.
All of that went out the window that Sunday afternoon, when I passed out at the pool and landed face-first on the cement.
I spent the hours I planned to work on TDW instead in the emergency room. I was diagnosed with a very mild concussion and sprained shoulder to go along with some scrapes and bruises.
I followed up with my primary doctor the following day and had a CT scan of my skull and brain that was thankfully normal.
But my doctor told me “not to use your brain” for 3-5 days. No work, no computer, no TV, no reading, no phone.
Um, what?
Has she met me before?
No reading and no TV?
That’s just not practical or realistic.
I ultimately worked half-days on Monday and Tuesday, but resumed my normal work schedule on Wednesday and stuck with it for the rest of the week. I stayed off my personal computer and didn’t turn the TV on once, but used my phone more than I should’ve. I just couldn’t avoid going through my emails (you don’t want to know how many I get in a day) and keeping up with the newsletters I’m subscribed to.
I resumed TDW activities this past Saturday, August 20, including catching up on the podcasts I missed during the week and doing my usual curating for “Teen Drama Links.” I also went back to my TV-watching so I didn’t fall behind on “The Bachelorette” and “MasterChef” (I still need to catch up on “The Challenge: USA”).
I still have a headache and soreness on and off, and the cuts on my arm look pretty gnarly as the healing process continues. All things considered, I am extremely lucky — as much as the past week and change has sucked, it could’ve been so much worse. I am really grateful it wasn’t.
Anyway, with TDW festivities being interrupted last week, this feels like as good a time as any to share some upcoming schedule changes as I am anticipating a busy fall.

Ian Ziering (Steve, Beverly Hills, 90210) commented on the announcement, “This is insanely heartbreaking. Throughout all my years working on Beverly Hills 90210, my scenes with Denise will always be remembered with the utmost in respect for her talent, and fondness for the loving soul she was. Some of my heartiest off camera laughs were between she and I hammering out the the discipline her Mrs. Teasley would dish out to my Steve Sanders. My sincere condolences to her family, and all others who she was dear to. God bless you Denise, pay forward that Legacy Key.” He also posted a separate tribute. (Instagram)
Garth and Tori Spelling (Donna, Beverly Hills, 90210) paid tribute to Dowse on their “9021OMG” podcast. (iHeart)
The references to Dowse as a “90210” star drive me nuts. She did not appear on “90210” — and the distinction matters. (TDW)
Articles have also incorrectly stated that Dowse appeared in “all 10 seasons” of “Beverly Hills, 90210,” and was on the show from “1990 to 2000.” In actuality, she was in seasons 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 9, and 10.
