Teen Drama Links for February 7, 2023
Though my first experience with ChatGPT didn’t go so well, I decided to do a second experiment.
This time, instead of asking the AI what it knows about the teen dramas, I asked it to write a teen drama.
Here’s what it came up with…
Title: “Broken Hearts High”
Act 1: It’s a typical day at John F. Kennedy High School, but for the student council president, Emily, it’s far from ordinary. She’s been secretly dating the star quarterback, Jake, for the past few months, but today, Jake breaks up with her in front of the entire school. Devastated, Emily turns to her best friend, Ava, for support.
Act 2: Ava is having her own issues. She’s been crushing on her lab partner, Noah, for months but doesn’t have the courage to tell him how she feels. To make matters worse, her parents are getting divorced and she feels like her life is falling apart.
Act 3: Emily, Ava, and Noah band together to put on a fundraiser for the school’s drama club, but tensions rise when Jake and his new girlfriend, cheerleader Madison, become involved. As Emily tries to move on from Jake, Ava musters the courage to confess her feelings to Noah, only to find out that he's been harboring feelings for Emily.
Act 4: Emily and Noah decide to give dating a shot, but Jake still has feelings for Emily and is determined to win her back. Meanwhile, Ava must come to terms with the fact that Noah may not feel the same way about her and deal with the aftermath of her parent’s divorce.
Act 5: The school’s big charity event is a success, but as the night goes on, secrets are revealed and relationships are tested. Will Emily choose Jake or Noah? Will Ava find love or be left heartbroken? Find out in the dramatic conclusion of “Broken Hearts High”.
I was pretty impressed by this! And I wanted to know what happens next… so I asked.
Act 6: The school’s charity event ends with a dramatic turn of events. Emily, who has been torn between Jake and Noah, finally decides to choose Noah. However, Jake is not willing to give up so easily and confronts Noah, leading to a heated argument. In the midst of the chaos, Ava finds solace in a new love interest, Tyler, who has been there for her during her tough times.
Act 7: As Emily and Noah’s relationship progresses, they face challenges and obstacles, including jealousy from Jake and interference from Madison. Ava and Tyler’s relationship blossoms, but Ava must deal with the disapproval of her friends, who think Tyler is not good enough for her.
Act 8: As the school year comes to an end, Emily and Noah’s relationship is stronger than ever, but they must face the reality of going to different colleges in the fall. Ava and Tyler must also come to terms with the long-distance aspect of their relationship. Meanwhile, Jake is still trying to win back Emily’s heart and will stop at nothing to do so.
Act 9: The finale of “Broken Hearts High” brings all the drama, heartache, and triumphs full circle. Emily, Noah, Ava, and Tyler must navigate their futures and make the toughest decisions of their lives. Will they find happiness and true love, or will their broken hearts lead to a lifetime of heartache?
What a cliffhanger! You’ll have to wait until later this month to find out what exactly happens in the finale of “Broken Hearts High”. I’m keeping it a secret for now!

As a reminder, the series also stars Lafferty’s now-wife, Alexandra Park, and his brother Stuart Lafferty works on the show behind the scenes as well.
In an Instagram Story that’s no longer available, the “Drama Queens” podcast solicited fan questions for Lafferty, so it seems like he’s finally going to be on.

The original “Matlock” filmed in Wilmington, North Carolina, where “Dawson’s Creek” and “One Tree Hill” were shot (and where I live), and a number of actors connected to the teen dramas appeared on it — including, of course, series star Andy Griffith (Andrew, Dawson’s Creek).
Fun fact: Griffith’s “Dawson’s Creek” character, Andrew Lanier, was named after my real-life friend who gifted me an incredible “Dawson’s Creek”-related birthday present in 2021.
