My Fourth of July last week was one for the memory books.
Picture this: I’m sitting in the pool at my apartment complex, reading Sunny Hostin’s Summer on Highland Beach, and all of a sudden MY PARENTS ARE STANDING IN FRONT OF ME!
They drove the 10 hours from New York to North Carolina, divided over two days, to surprise me for the holiday weekend.
In the nearly 10 years since I moved to Wilmington, it was something I always hoped they’d do. And now they did. It was literally a dream come true.
After having 48 hours together in Wilmington in May — the first time we were all together here since my move — now we had another four days to create more memories.
And get this: In the early hours of July Fourth, before my 8:45 a.m. alarm, I dreamt that I went to a restaurant here in Wilmington called Port Land Grille. In the dream, a few minutes after I was seated, my mom walks in, much to my obvious surprise, and tells me she can only stay for a little while.
Fast-forward a few hours to my real-life surprise, and my mom tells me she made dinner reservations at... Port Land Grille!
Was my dream a premonition?!
If only my next dream was about winning lottery numbers...
