There are a million little reasons why I’ve loved watching “A Million Little Things” the past four and a half years.
Most of them have to do with Gary.
As you can imagine, then, this final season and the series finale earlier this month were quite bittersweet.
To be honest, though, while I was genuinely shocked at the reveal at the end of the season 4 finale, I found most of this fifth season a bit underwhelming. Most of the episodes felt average and were missing the oomph I expected for a final season.
The last few episodes delivered, however, I have mixed feelings about the final episode. The epilogue felt rushed, and I fully expected Gary to have some kind of near-death or post-death run-in with the departed Jon. I was disappointed we didn’t get that.
And, while I know this is an unpopular opinion, I was always rooting for Delilah and Eddie (which tracks with my all-time favorite teen drama couples having a “forbidden romance” aspect to them). They finally reunited toward the end of the season and then we got practically nothing with them together. Producers even cut one of their scenes from the finale for time. That missed the mark for me too.
All that said, one character delighted me to the very end: Greta. Cameron Esposito was a wonderful, hilarious addition to the cast. In fact, Greta became my favorite character besides Gary.
Now, “A Million Little Things,” I say farewell. My tear ducts thank you for the journey.
