I have a TV problem.
Am the I only one who can’t watch mockumentary shows?
I’ve had a sensitive stomach since I was little, to the point where I used to get seasick in the bathtub. (It’s okay — you can laugh.) So, the camera movement on shows like “The Office”? Forget it. Absolutely nausea-inducing.
Back in 2009, I barely got through the pilot of “Modern Family.” I’ve never seen an episode of “Abbott Elementary” because I know how ill its camera style would make me feel. Even “Adolescence,” though not a mockumentary, had some camera work in the first episode that made it difficult for me to watch.
This is probably a great example of #firstworldproblems, along with complaining about having too much TV to watch and not enough time to watch it. In both cases, I feel stricken with FOMO, feeling like I’m missing out on whatever the rest of the viewing public is enjoying.
Oh, well. There are worse problems to have, TV-related and otherwise.
NOTE: I’m headed back to Los Angeles for work next week, so “Teen Drama Links” will return on June 10.
