It’s another November where the “One Tree Hill” cast returned to Wilmington and I’m out of town — not that I would’ve participated in any of the events.
Last year, while the “A Week in Tree Hill” convention was taking place in Wilmington, I was in Punta Cana.
This year, during last weekend’s “A Holiday in Wilmington: Giving Back Celebration” and this weekend’s “20in23 Fundraiser,” I’m in New York.
But just like I had no desire to spend the money required to attend last November’s convention, I similarly had no desire to spend the money required to attend this November’s events.
Consider this: The “Holiday in Wilmington” event cost $5,000. That is INSANE. The meet and greet with Bethany Joy Lenz cost another $500. And so on.
I’m just highly amused that I moved to Wilmington in part due to “One Tree Hill,” and for the last two years, while the cast is in town, I am not.
What are the odds?
What’s more, when I went to the ILM airport on Saturday, the private driver I hired had — coincidentally — just driven much of the “One Tree Hill” cast for the weekend’s festivities. My butt sat where their butts sat.
What a world.
