At “90s Con” this past weekend, the cast of “Beverly Hills, 90210” publicly gathered for the first time since the death of Shannen Doherty.
Prior to her passing, Doherty was scheduled to attend the Florida convention alongside Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering, Brian Austin Green, Gabrielle Carteris, and Tori Spelling. (Spelling ended up dropping out days before, while Jason Priestley was never slated to attend.)
I can’t imagine how challenging it was for them to now attend without her. I would think being in such an environment was both triggering and comforting. You’re reminded of who isn’t there and who was lost, but perhaps comforted by camaraderie and memories.
Garth, Ziering, Green, and Carteris spoke about Doherty during their show panel, while Green also joined Doherty’s “Charmed” cast mates for their live “House of Halliwell” recording in the late actress’s honor. The convention also featured an empty booth in her memory.
Unfortunately, the cast will have to get used to doing things together without Doherty, much like they’ve sadly had to do with Luke Perry’s absence. But surely knowing that doesn’t make it any easier. My heart goes out to them.
