Happy anniversary, TeenDramaWhores!
Today marks one year since TeenDramaWhore was resurrected on Substack. Over the last 12 months, I’ve loved exploring the teen drama world with you all. Among the highlights:
-Private Zoom chats with Charles Rosin, Gina Fattore, and Melinda Clarke
-Interviews with Nicholas Pryor, Bevin Prince, Nina Repeta, JaNeika and JaSheika James, and Sydney Penny
-Essays on topics like the origins of my teen drama fandom, my problems with nu90210 and “BH90210,” the passing of Luke Perry, why I owe Josh Schwartz an apology, the evolution of LGBTQ teen drama characters, separating “One Tree Hill” from Mark Schwahn, the abusive relationship between Chuck and Blair, how the teen dramas affect the way we see physical appearances, the lack of racial diversity in the teen dramas, the impact of the “One Tree Hill” school shooting episode 15 years later, the significance of teen drama characters losing their virginity, and MUCH more
-Four Teen Drama Trivia Nights
There’s been a lot of joy. There’s also been a lot of stress. I slowed down a bit in July to help alleviate the pressure I was putting on myself and am going to slow down a bit more now. At various points during the last year, I’ve asked myself, “Is TDW a business or a hobby?” I’ve settled on “hobby.”
That means, as of today, I am pausing paid premium TDW subscriptions.
Going forward, content will be FREE FOR ALL and there will be no subscription fees. My signature “Teen Drama Links” will be accessible to all each week, as will the online events, though those will become more sporadic and less frequent.
Sometime in the future I may decide to return to premium subscriptions, but for now, this is the right decision.
I started the original TeenDramaWhore to find people as obsessed with the teen drama genre as I am. You are my people. I’m so grateful for all those who have been on this journey with me, whether you came on board in 2008 or in 2020 or just yesterday. I’m so excited to keep writing about our favorite shows and engaging with you all. Here’s to another year!
Happy Anniversary! Thank you so much for all you do for the teen drama community. I'm so happy that you are taking more time for yourself. You have a fan for life in me😘
Congratulations on your anniversary! I know you’ll continue to be a force in the teen drama community despite scaling back a bit. 💕
