Teen Drama Links for March 28, 2023
Let’s be real: The insanely expensive event I’m really upset to not be attending is Taylor Swift’s “Eras” tour.
My FOMO was off the charts when I saw the setlist included “Cruel Summer,” “The Archer,” “Tis the Damn Season,” “Champagne Problems,” “Tolerate It,” “All Too Well (10 Minute Version),” “August, “Illicit Affairs,” and “Midnight Rain.” (I’ve already written about how I see “August” and “Illicit Affairs” as teen drama songs. Imagine if Swift performed “Happiness” too!)
Initially when the tour was announced, I thought I’d get tickets if Swift — a “Dawson’s Creek” fan, by the way! — was coming to Charlotte. But then not only were there no North Carolina dates, but the ticket prices were just completely unaffordable. I could’ve gone home to New York for those shows, but that still doesn’t solve the problem with the cost of the actual ticket.
I just couldn’t justify spending that kind of money, just like I can’t justify it with the fan conventions I wrote about last week. So I’ll have to be content with soaking up whatever I can from afar. And life goes on.
