Why is Amazon Prime Video blatantly lying to people?
Over the last few weeks, the streamer has been promoting on Facebook, “All episodes of Beverly Hills, 90210 now streaming.”
But as we all know, “all episodes” of “Beverly Hills, 90210” are NOT streaming — on any platform. This statement is so easily disproven just by looking at the collection on Prime. For example, the screenshot below shows how the season 2 catalog skips from episode 22 to episode 24 — and that’s not the only jump that season, either (or the correct description for 2.22, but I digress…).
Many commenters on Prime’s Facebook posts have pointed out that the streamer does not, in fact, have all episodes.
Most of these comments receive replies like, “Hi there, [name]. Let’s look into this matter together. When you’ve got a moment, please get in contact with us here: http://amzn.to/NAContactUs, and we can provide additional assistance.”
Uh, what is contacting them going to do? What are they going to look into? What additional assistance are they going to provide? We know not all episodes have been licensed for streaming due to music rights issues, and there is nothing Prime’s team can do about that.
What Prime can do is be truthful. After all, what could possibly be the defense for telling this “all episodes” lie? Are they purposely trying to mislead people or does the marketing team making these posts truly not know its streamer doesn’t have all episodes?
A December 31 post stated, “All ten seasons of Beverly Hills, 90210 are streaming.” At least that is accurate. Prime does have all 10 seasons — but it certainly doesn’t have all episodes.
