I know a lot of you have felt disappointed and let down over the last week.
I’m about to disappoint some of you too — but fortunately, in much more trivial ways.
First off, after I revealed back in March that “Dawson’s Creek” executive producer and showrunner Greg Berlanti and producer Julie Plec would be hosting my college reunion at Northwestern University in November, a number of you strongly encouraged me to attend. As I shared then, Berlanti and Plec are marking their 30th reunion and this will be my 15th. That they of all people were chosen as the co-chairs for my milestone year is quite remarkable.
But with the big event taking place this weekend, now is the time to share that I won’t be attending. I said earlier this year it was doubtful I would attend and, well, for various reasons I won’t get into, I made the decision not to. But man, oh, man… I know I will have major FOMO knowing Berlanti and Plec are back on our old stomping grounds and I’m not there.
Second, there will be no “Teen Drama Links” next week, albeit for a personally exciting reason. After going to Los Angeles for work in June, I didn’t think I’d have the opportunity to go again this year. Lo and behold, I’m headed back on Monday. I could pretend this work trip is the reason I’m not going to my reunion, but then I’d be lying to myself and to you.
Yes, yes — I know in the grand scheme of things, not going to my reunion and skipping “Teen Drama Links” are no big deal. But isn’t it better to be bummed about that than who won and lost the election? If only it were that simple.
