All good things — and some not so good things — come to an end.
On May 14, 2003, the “Dawson’s Creek” series finale, “All Good Things… Must Come to an End,” aired on The CW.
I’ve been thinking about “Dawson’s Creek” a lot this year — okay, even more than I normally do — because of its dual milestones in 2023. In January, we celebrated 25 years since the show’s premiere and now, in less than two weeks, it’ll be 20 years since the show’s end.
Those aren’t the only teen drama milestones this year, but something that struck me recently is that, in all my calendar-tracking for these anniversaries, one never occurred to me: May 13 will be 10 years since the series finale of “90210.” And that’s not all. I had also forgotten that September will be 15 years since the show debuted.
Yes, “90210” is the “not so good things” I referred to above. I’ve already detailed my problems with nu90210, so no need to rehash. It’s just interesting, to me at least, what sticks in my teen drama brain and what doesn’t.
Some days — like October 4 and May 17 — are just, dare I say, holy. Others, well, aren’t, hence me failing to mention some significant “One Tree Hill” and “Gossip Girl” anniversaries last year. I still feel badly about it. Forgive me, teen drama gods, for I have sinned.
Happy teen dramaversary to all celebrating this month!
